Default 98' boneville check engine light on

took to autozone and 2 codes popped up one said engine misfire and the other said too lean fuel mixture.what could this be?

I would guess it means you have a misfire and a lean mixture.

Check/replace your spark plugs and wires.

Drive for awhile and get it re-scanned for the AFR mixture. Could be an O2 sensor if it hasn't been changed in 50-60k miles.

If you have the actual code numbers we can look them up in techinfo and someone with an FSM can tell you the diagnostic steps you could take besides the ones recommended by Willwren

If it smells like its running rich then you might want to check for a vacuum leak or an exhaust leak before the O2 sensor. Both can cause a lean code due to the extra air and the computer will try to compensate by richening the mix.

If its not running rich then I too would go for some good fuel injector cleaner in the tank before replacing the O2 sensor.

FOUND OUT I HAVE SMALL HOLE IN MY EXHAUST. SO A FRIEND OF MINE THAT DOES WELDING FOR A LIVING SAID HE WOULD HELP ME OUT AND PATCH IT UP.HOPEFULLY THAT SHOULD FIX THE PROBLEM.I REALLY APPRECIATE THE FEED BACK.EVEN FROM A SMART ***!
