95 SSEi - Repairs list
Can you expound on the traction control light being on? Would this be the "TRACTION OFF" light on the cluster? Because a "CHECK ENGINE" light will turn this light on.
Would be curious to see if this disappears once CHECK ENGINE is reset.

I am not sure what was causing check engine on my car... if you let it idle for 5-6 minutes in park it would trigger. Turn the car off and it would clear. Unfortunatly I never got it scanned and traded it in before I found out the root cause of the issue.

So the $10,000 question is: is there anyone who has a car with traction control with a "CHECK ENGINE" light on that did not trigger "TRACTION OFF"

Based on my experience when both of those lights are on, means a wheel hub bearing has gone bad (which you know about) or a fried ETCBM (electronic traction control and brake module).
Heh, had I know and not gone and sold my 94SSEi, you coulda bought mine! it has faaar less problems.

I've never heard of the PCM even knowing of the existence of the 92-95 traction control or ABS systems. They're seperate and do not communicate to the best of my knowledge.
That changed in 96.
If you have an intermittent traction light, disconnect and clean all the connectors to the wheelspeed sensors behind the hubs. That'* a start. From there it gets very expensive.

Also, the WSS seem to be hidden in the rear drums. Is it enough to hose it down, or is there any special trick to get to it?
