95 Bonneville with starting/ running issues
its more just time taking things apart than aggravation if you know what you are up against and have the parts on hand. those elbows really arent that expensive and if you order from rock auto they ship stuff same day you order it.
Thanks Justin. I'll take one apart while I'm at the yard tomorrow to make sure I see what'* involved. Tomorrow my smog guru wants to borrow my CP9145 to test on some newer OBDII cars...for giggles,

Well, gosh; enough is enough. Today I pulled two different tensioners. The first one was a '95 Bonnie and on that one there was no left coolant elbow; the housing extended all the way to the waterpump, and that piece of housing broke off in the pump. Hmm...tried a '99 Buick where there was a left elbow, and of course that one broke off in the pump and looked like it was there to stay. It looks like they might be interchangeable, and you might say well go with the one where the elbow is separate, but I really think if I take mine apart that piece may not come out of the waterpump. I do not intend to do the WP.
Then there'* the hood release cable...spent like 1 1/2 on it, and that grommet at the firewall that appears to keep the cable captive inside the car seems like it will be there till Jesus comes back. Nuthin' doin'. And of course, forget about the front knock sensor coming out. Guess they have a lifetime warranty or something.
So, time to call a win a win and not fight the wrong battles. All along there have been unserviceable items. Seems to me a guy named Bill W said sometimes you gotta surrender to win...I'm there. It goes up for sale. All I got was the engine cover and a fog light.

Update, car sold Friday, didn't get what I wanted but that'* the way it goes. These cars are better bought (and kept) than sold, for sure. Funny, sold it to a kid who peeled out right in my face as he drove away and left rubber all over the pavement. 5 minutes later I get a call from him; he'* at the gas station and it won't start...I stifle any impulse I have to tell him I didn't appreciate his 'f&^k you' burnout and go to see if I can get him on his 1 hour drive back home. The positive cable at the battery was always janky and the battery didn't have the hold-down so his little stunt apparently shifted the battery enough to pull on the cables, thus no start. I cleaned it up and he went away, which was a good thing...My intention was a one-time contribution to the site for all the help but I guess I'll go the level III supporter route. With the prices I'm seeing I think once I get some work I'll look for an SSEI model to fix up as a 2nd car. Like these cars. Oh; sold the scanner on eBay and got all my money back on that. Thanks much guys,
