95 Bonne air temp actuator - passenger air bag removal?
New to group... and now my 16141822 temperature actuator has gone south
Background: 95 Bonne, 142k miles, still runs great, already did the upper intake maniforld, ac compressor, all struts, water pump 2 times, brakes once, master cylinder more times than I want to admit (crap parts til I got the Bosch)... anyway I've been working on it here and there for a lotta years already, and now the actuator is gone - very limited rod movement, so gears are probably stripped/binding.
So my question is - is there a shortcut? I've read where someone said if he knew how to get the passenger side airbag out it would've been easy - is it possible? has someone here done it through the airbag hole? I'm old and lazy and just don't want to pay dealer prices... so will do watever it takes, but sure would like to hear a shortcut
thanks in advance,
jeff

Yes, there is a shortcut. Search "air mix door" to find the particular thread. Airbag does not have to come out. It is done from under the dash. Helps to remove RF seat and carpet.
Carpet certainly doesn't have to come out, and I never removed my seat.

That'* where you're going. You get there through the space vacated when you pull your HVAC controller (black box, red connector).

Go to page 2 of this thread: http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...ic.php?t=25609
You will find this photo along with others and a description of how you can change the air-mix actuator without tearing out the dash.

Thanks for the info...it looks do-able from the pics; my only concern is about getting the adjustment right where the door is all the way closed in summer.
I "popped" the rod off the white plastic door pivot arm and haven't been able to get it back on, as a test I guess you'd say. So I'm not too confident about getting it back together properly at this point, but like anything I guess, it'* worth a try.
Anyway, thnaks again for the help, now I'm going out there and see about getting that heater box cover outa there.

Here is another excellent article on how to fix lots of heater stuff including air mix actuator and photos: http://trialsnuts.com/ecc.pdf
Well, the job'* all done... went very well & I really appreciate all the help! It'* really nice havin' the wife off my back about wanting to take the F350 (diesel guzzler) everywhere because at least the air works right in it...
