Well, I haven't driven the 93' for a while but my dad who is buying the car said it was running like ***t and will not buy it when its this way. So, I drove it around and it drove very bad. Misfireing, backfireing, and no SES light. Now I reved it up in park and it seemed to rev freely. I put in plugs before the Chicago trip in Aug 04', and new wires in Jul 03'. Any ideas?
I would start with the basics. Fuel, fire, and air.
Check the fuel pressure if possible. It may just be a fuel filter.
The backfiring sounds like a timing issue though. Maybe a cam sensor.
To my knowledge thats all that controls the timing other than the PCM.
Also, check the voltages on the TPS . It should be like .4 at idle and over 4 at WOT.

I would start with the fuel filter. Cheap insurance. Sounds like the engine is fuel starved!
