Default 4t60e tranny and P1860

I pulled this code from my scanner which indicates a problem with the pulse width management for the torque converter clutch. Driving symptoms include surging when the TTC locked in 3rd or 4th. The code was set during a hot day after driving for several hours.

I plan to drop the pan and change the fluid and filter this summer. Is there anything else I can do easily at the same time to address the code?

Also, am I looking at a transmission rebuild soon? Or should I be able to have the TCC solenoid serviced at a shop before a rebuild is necessary? Or can any of these questions really be answered without going to a shop to have the cause diagnosed?

Adding a trans cooler may also help. A friend has the same issues, only occurs when the car warms up.
