How rediculas is it that Ive gone thru 3 master cylinders in just a few years... all of the seals go bad and they leak out the back... Rediculas...
Mine just started leaking out the back too. It'* about 2 years old, from Auto Zone, and was new (not rebuilt). The previous one (maybe the original?) had an internal problem that caused the pedal to go to the floor...
Nope, this is the first time I've ever seen a master cylinder leak out the back, onto the vacuum booster. The leaking is the only symptom; on mine, the brakes work normally.
My experience has been that usually they fail internally and the symptom is that once in a while the pedal will go all the way to the floor and you'll have no brakes but then release the pedal and push it back down and it'll seem almost normal. I've had to replace several master cylinders on different cars for that reason.

95 SLE with 124K miles... on the 4th master cylinder, and yes it'* RIDICULOUS.
So far two have done the pedal goes slowly to the floor at the traffic light routine, and the latest one leaks at the seal and drips down the vacuum booster.
The original lasted aboout 60K, and about 20-25K miles for the the rebuilts (all "lifetime guaranteed" from PepBoys).
Does anyone know if it'* really worth it to buy a brand new one, GM or otherwise?
