would be hard to say. are you be paid by your carrier? or the 3rd party carrier?

your policy does not cover it. However, in a liability situation, it is covered. with the miles that car has on it and the age, it would be hard to collect, but may not be totally uncollectable.

google it, diminution in value.

Definitely take the $6500 and keep the car to fix.
Also, to save a few $$$ be sure to check www.car-part.com for the bumper, door and whatever other parts you can get used and have repainted. Will save a few $$ over new, and will have better fit than aftermarket parts.

Figured i better explain that a little better lol. I have a nice rear door and i'll cut the rear qtr. of the car ( at the roof across the package shelf through the floor and down the rear panel) This will give you the qtr door jam including dog leg inner and outer wheel house and any other inner sheet metal you might need. 50 bucks for the door. You can have the qtr for free even if you dont' want the door just because I'd hate to see another one go to the yard.

It sounds like you have a lot of good information here.. from what you mentioned earlier about a rental car and what you are mentioning now about DIV, sounds like you would be a good person to talk to BEFORE THE INEVITABLE happens!

Thanks for the responses and offers guys. I told the insurance to send me the $6500 and that I would keep the car. I'll let you guys know how it works out.

let me know if you want the door panel off the car in the junkyard here. No clue on price, but color should be the same so no paint would be necessary... could get other parts if necessary. I think the bumper cover is good as well. Shipping might be interesting.
