How is your spark wire and plugs? Ever had your injectors/fuel system cleaned, even with a bottle of additives?

Have you actually tried to run a diagnostic on your computer? It wont show some errors that the computer has found with your SES light.

It sounds like one of those tough problems. I like the idea of the IAC valve, because if you come to a slow stop, it may not need to respond as fast, and it may be getting stuck in there with some sticky stuff.

Before you replace the IAC valve, you should take it out of the throttle body and clean its passageway along with the rest of the throttle body. Can't guarantee this will solve the problem, but it is a good tune-up place to start. Remember this could be a whole slew of tune-up related items.

The IAC valve sits on the bottom of the throttle body, above the throttle position sensor. The best way to test it is with a Tech 1.

I'm not having any probs, at least now, but was thinking of getting a tune-up. However, I have new plugs, new wires, PCV, ... A lot of the "tune-up package" the shop has here I have already solved. At least most of it I think. Except for cleaning the TB. Is this something that can be done easily??? Would I have to take it off?? (Yeah that'* probably a dumb question. Sorry) Just don't want to pay someone just to clean the TB.

What else is typically done in a tune-up? Thanks

Make sure you clean the passageway where it sits if you are taking it out.

A Tech 1 is the computer that the mechanics and dealer use to communicate with your car'* computer. It can be used to manually override the computer and increase idle speed by opening up the IAC valve.
