And a car with a 180* thermostat doesn't get up to 180* any slower than a car with a 195* stat. In our area, you start getting warmth at 130*-140*, and usable heat around 160*. In my experience on this board, I can count on one hand the number of people I have heard switch back to the 195* during winter for more heat. They usually resort to blocking some of the radiator instead. Keep in mind, this experience includes even the NE, and Canada. If people in the NE are fine with it -40*, he should be fine too.

Oh, and if I am wrong? How hard is it to change a thermostat, really?
