Not exactly sure where you should go from here. Wait for some others with more experience to chime in.
yes that light should illuminate....you may have to pull the custer to see what the story is....if its out, replace the light....if its there and its good you might have to dig further. The FSM'* are in my room....ill look into this when i get back

Allright, supose the light is dead, what about the ignition switch (VATS) ?
I don't want my dad to put 170$ for something he doesn't need !

ok if there is a problem with the VATS its a 5 cent Resistor that will solve your problem....DO NOT take the car anywhere untill we know exactly what is going on, with that light

the VATS module is actually the igniton switch right ?

And where exactly is the security light in the dash? near the system monitor or beside the antilock and belts lights?

Actually the ignition switch has nothing to do with VATS. It'* the lock cylinder that has the contacts that read the key pellet. The module is way up under the dash. If you shine a flashlight on the dash you may be able to see where the security light should be.

Trust these guys!
I bypassed my VATS system years ago, after searching the interenet, and THEN I found this site. These guys will help and they do know their stuff.

As for where the security light is, do you have the digital or analog dash. Its on the lower right hand side of the intrument cluster in the information center on my wifes Olds 98

What do you mean digital or analog?
I think it'* analog, it has mph and kph as well in the outer ring.

Anyway my problem should be either the ignition switch or the VATS modul, right ?

Thanks for the reply, i just went to the car with a flashlight and found it !
This dash in the picture is like the one in my 93 Se.

I have 2 important questions:
How do I get to the thin orange wire of the VATS under the wheel?
Is there an DIY or something with pictures?
How can i recognize the VATS modul?

Thanks alot guys,
Sahar.

So, does the light come on when you first turn the key on?
