Default Valve Train Noisy

1988 Vin C : I have some valve train noise (ratteling) coming from my Valve Covers. Has anybody experinced this and repaired it? What components did you replace? These rockers are not adjustable right?

Thanks

Are you sure it is not a timing chain rattling ? The 88 Vin "C" had a problem with this and should be updated to the later parts (anyone have a list ?) when replacing. If over 100K miles I would be suspicious.

Padgett, I am thinking the same thing ( timing chain has over 214,000 miles) so I am in the process obtaining the chain tensioner, I have the other parts already. As soon as I find out what kinda tensioner to get (counterbored or chamfered) I will replace it. I was just getting any opinions on what I might need to do next if the timing chain did not hush the ratteling. Was just wondering if anybody has ever had any lifters collaps, weaken, rocker arm wear etc etc. Anybody ever have any excessive wear on their cam button/spring??

Thanks

mine was fine when i took it out, but the chain was stretched to the max after 110k miles. i do have one valve that makes a tick/hiss kind of noise. while youre in there, you might want to replace the cam sensor magnet, just to be sure that it doesnt break off later on. its like $10 at autozone. its up to you.
