Well, the leak in the trunk of my 1989 SE is finally cured. There was one place that it was leaking that only the guys at the bodyshop could see. I let them seal up the rest of them because they have the right adhesives and sealers.

So, are you saying that it was leaking at the top of the door seal where it pinches behind the moulding, and at the trunk seal?
I put sealant under the trunk weather stripping on mine and it cut the water intrusion down significantly.

It was coming in from two places. One was the trunk seal, the other was a pinhole in the sealant in the trunk jamb ( see pic of trunk seal) right in the corner by the rear window. The other one was tricky. The pic of the door jamb, the moulding on the rear quarter panel ( held in by 3 screws ) is your roof drain, under it is a plastic moulding which screws into the 1/4 panel. There was a gasket behind there at one time, and the water just goes right behind it, through the holes in the 1/4 panel, and in the trunk.

wow, that looks like it was quite a leak. good you got it fixed is the metal straight in there? or is that water or somthing else making it look crinkled?

Actually, its this clear sealer they used to seal the seam. Some strong stuff from 3M..
