Any tips on fluid change,first time.Undo bolts let drain,is filter just sitting there and put new gasket ,do I use some gasket glu.Also I heard if it is the original rubber gasket to reuse this is it true after 233,000 k.

It'* pretty simple..get a large sized container..you'll have about 6 quarts of fluid coming out.

Pull the bolts out..lletting one side hang to drain and trying not to make a huge mess.
The original gasket from your car was metal inlaid with rubber..if possible use that again..unless it'* bad, it'* meant to be a lifetime gasket.

Firmly wiggle and pull the filter out. The insert will probably remain in the trans. If so put the new filter up in and ensure it'* a snug fit. If it'* a snug fit you do not need to replace the insert...loose fit..replace the insert.

Wipe and clean the pan and gasket areas on the trans and pan. I like to use some brake cleaner on a rag to remove all the oil. Replace pan and gasket. Torque bolts to spec.

Refill with about a gallon of fluid and start up the car..Keep checking fluid level and top it off.

Bill couple more Qs.You say reuse gasket if possible , buy new filter,reuse insert,and torque to speck.Well I will have to buy whole kit and assume everything is being replaced or I will be stuck in the middle of the job without parts, and I think it comes as a kit ,I dont know if insert is in kit either.Just asking because Ive never seen tranny pan off before and I dont have a torque wrench ,any suggestions.
One question on cooler.Does any one know which line is in and out of radiator,and the one in the store looks really small , will a small thing like that cool , I am assuming 10000 whatever .Thanks

The small one should work well for your car if your not towing.
The factory hookup is tapped into the top of radiator cooler.
This is where the fluid exits the rad. (Goes in the bottom).
Always go to the rad. first then to the cooler.

Hey jr...I'm assuming thats the 91LE in those pics, did it come with the tranny cooler stock or was that an add-on you did? That sounds about like a 10k or 12k one, and is it placed in front of the radiator there?

When you say don't get a professional flush, do you mean that one shouldn't add other chemicals to the fluid, or do you mean that one shouldn't replace all the fluid with new fluid.
What exactly do you mean by this?

Yes..buy the kit, it'* about $15 here. I only use the filter if possible. The gasket should only be reused if it is metal and inlaid with rubber. That would be an original gasket and they seal the best. The insert is tough to get out and then back in..w/o using a tool that could gouge the area.

What is meant by flush is some shops use a machine to professionally flush out all the fluid including the converter.
The jury is out on this one as some are for and some are against it.
