Don't count on this. I've seen bad units test good and good units test bad. Usually it'* bad units testing good, though. These testers only run BASIC routines. They don't test the entire module.

Talk about hard decisions - son'* GA module tested good but gut said it was bad. $100 module and integrated cover makes it very difficult to check for spark. Went with the new module and fixed the problem (3800s I have spares for).

Not the Coil.

Gonna start troubleshooting per the Service Manual.

Possible suspects:

Ign module, Spark plugs, Wires, Injector, Crank sensor

Default plug

If its missing under loak its more than likely a bad plug or wire. Could also be a valve sticking.

Aw please not a valve!

I'm at 279000 miles I need to hit 300K for bragging rights.

I'm gonna buy a long wire and one good plug and swap them out one at a time to see if one is bad. They're not that old maybe 6 months.

If it'* never had a timing chain replacement, I would bet that is the problem. Even with a tensioner, the valve timing can get seriously retarded if the chain is loose enough to hit the cover, even worse if it jumps a tooth.

If going to pull plugs, run a compression test while you are at it.
