i have a little problem :( How in the hell you take the a/c compressor off. I did a seach and like 2000 things came back. Any help in the next 3 hours would be great since i'm back at the land with the car.

But we got it off, the bolts were cover in so much crud we could not see them.

Damn.... That motor never had a single oil change... I pretty much never see a 3800 looking that bad on the inside, unless it has been severely abused.... No wonder it was playing the rod/piston game....

Glad to see it coming apart slowly... Good work

It'* had oil change a long time ago. It has a fram oil filter on it :( Remember it is was park for a long time.

Since you know your engine has taken a ****, and you are replacing it, I will not be afraid to make this comment.

You see my signature picture? Minus the little surface rust [due to spilled coolant], that is what my lifter valley looked like uncleaned. I didn't do anything to clean it whatsoever. Now, look at your'*. That car didn't get oil changes. Or if it did, they were WAY overdue.

Everyone who is reading this, if you are properly storing a car, drain the oil before you park the car. That is what happens when you don't.

I think we got got all the bolts. Tell me if i'm wrong. The 4 bolts on the tranny, and the back-wards facing one. their was also another bolt we took out just to be seft. When we start lifting it should break away from the tranny right?

Had one then but current Canon is much better. This the the short block and one head from the engine that dropped the center cam bearings in 1999. Been sitting in the garage since. About 100,000 miles and oil & filter changed every 3k.

ps dealer said it was guage so drove home from Indiana. 1,000+ miles at 70 mph and 19 psi max. never missed a beat.



Anyone know if oversize cam bearings are now available for the 3800 "C" ? Could not find any then so just replaced the whole long block.

MBATR: removing your engine - you did get the three bolts that connect the ring grear (flywheel) to the torque converter ?
