Your post is just a little vague. Power loss? Stalling?

Are you getting a service engine soon light from this?

And a haynes manual is not gonna help yah much for troubleshooting.

By bad exhaust, do you mean a clogged cat? That can cause quite a few problems if thats what you meant.

Be sure to clarify this just a bit and maybe change your title to be a bit more specific of your problems.

Here'* the start of this: http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...638&highlight=

His exhaust is dismal at best, with major portions requiring replacement. I beleive the symtoms he has are mostly attributed to excessive backpressure (clogged cat).

buck, Try pulling the O2 out of the exhaust (leave it plugged in) and starting the car. How does it run?

ok, the stalling is dirtectly attributed to the MAF. It will do that. It is the main sensor that controls the air/fuel mix without it, the engine has no idea how much air is coming into the engine and is complely guessing how much fuel to add. so if it runs at all, it would be surging. your number one problem is that maf. it will not allow anything to rev. Next of importance would be ensuring your cat is not clogged. Personally, I think its fine, it all sounds like the MAF is giving you a hard time. The TPS works in direct conjuction with the MAF, if the maf is good, set it to 0.45 volts. This is much easier to do with a scantool then with a voltmeter. You can rent one from Hans if you can afford the deposit. In addition to that, it will tell you what is working and what isn't. its can be a priceless tool. if you replace the maf with a known good sensor, and it still is giving you code 34, be sure to check the wires. if the wires are bad, swap in part of the wiring harness from your friend'* 90 lesabre.
