No SES light, but code 39
My ses light is not on, but when I read the codes I get a 39. All I find is referring to the TCC circuit. I am using a 1990 FSM for a 1989 model Bonneville LE.
I have a copy of the 1990 FSM and it says if there is a code 39 alone it is in the circuit between the ECM back to the solenoid and through the brake switch.
I checked the circuit and it works fine. I even did the brake check on the highway and I can feel it disengaging.
I even applied 12v and a ground across the solenoid (a plug from the junk yard and a switch worked well) and I could hear it clicking in the tranny.
Any Idea why I keep getting this code? I clear the codes and as soon as I drive it and return I check the codes again and there it is.

That code is stored in your memory and won't be erased until you disconnect your battery for a good hour or so. It sounds like a problem that was once there but has been fixed.

Its an old wives tale, but i still do it. Before you go to bed at night, disconnect the battery, and turn the key on, and right to on. This would drain the ECM of any reserve power it might have stored. (i know, old wives tale, lol)
When I had the dreaded code 41, I did the work for 8 hours, then disconnected the battery for about 10 minutes. The Check engine light still came on later, and it was the same code, (worried me actually, thought i did it wrong). It would come on and off, and when it was off, there would still be a stored code. So, i did my trick, and it did the trick, plus leaving it overnight.
