Default This is a NIGHMARE COME TRUE

im on 1988 SSE,i was driving around town,.and i noticed the car was shifting a bit late, 2700 RPM'* instead of the usual 2200RPM'*..it was kinda cool,so maybe she needed some fluid, turns out she needed almost a quart, filled her up and she still wouldnt shift normally,so i get to work, after work, for almost a 1/2 mile, she wouldnt shift out of 1st gear!!!..i was scared to hell...so i pull over, and i pull out again, and she shifted at about 3500RPM,and took forever to shift in to 3rd,and refused to shift into OD at about 70mph(110km) and the RPM'* abour 2500..
any chance this could be a tv detent cable issue?

He used that in his '89. The '88 he has right now has the factory tranny, I believe.

Default tranny

The 87 has a weak tranny if I recall.
It was beefed up starting in 88 to a more heavy duty unit.
