If the neutral safety switch was at fault, the starter wouldn't click, just nothing would happen. A way to confirm this is to put the car in overdrive, and try to start it, nothing should happen, not a click, but if you put the car in Neutral or Park, it will make the click noise you describe [under normal conditions the car should turn over ]

Thanks a lot for the help guys! I didn't really have a lot of time to work on my bonnie lately, but today I took off the starter assembly, after checking the battery and all the connections, and it turns out that the starter solenoid is bad. The click I heard wasn't coming from the solenoid... Anyways, thanks again. I'll post a note when i get her running again.

Well, I finally put in a new starter, and... she lives!! Thanks again.
