I have a 91 bonneville. the car will not idle. period. i have some cardboard tapped together and shoved unter the little cover above the throttle body. that problem has been solved that way. again not really sure what is causing that problem.

so now i have a new problem. when i bought the car the speedo didn't work and the SES light is on. can not pull a code with a paperclip. yesterday while driving to work the SES went out and the speedo started working. then the speedo would randomly go on and off and the SES would flash at the same times. when the SES would flash sometimes the water temp light would flash too. when all this was going on it would spit and sputter a little. then the speedo turns off SES comes back on and car drives normally. anyone have any ideas?

Sounds like a short or a problem on a ground bus.
