Default Keyless entry??

I just checked my RPO codes and im supposed to have remote entry. I guess the previous owners lost it :( Is there any way I could get the remote? I was planning to have remote entry instaled anyway but this may be easier.

if you have the AUO then you have the keyless, you will need to find someone with your year and get the FCC ID off the back of the remote

I double checked and yep I should have keyless. Would it be too much to hope that someone on this club has a remote with the number on it? Would I have to order it from the dealer?

If certain you have factory system, try www.remotesunlimited.com - have heard they have everything. Then again if the same as 89-9x Buick & Cadillac, that one is AB00502T or AB00702T (four button: lock, unlock, trunk, and "illuminated entry"). No picture in the service manual so cannot tell for sure but sounds similar. The one with the cadillac logo shows up quite often on e-Bay (search title and description for the FCC ID).

When you get a new remote, the system will need to "learn" it. Think there is a green wire in the trunk for that (someone with a factory unit please help here).

Our SE did not have a factory unit but I added an ICD "Valliant" from Washawski (in current catalog for $39.99). Installed behind glove box and works like a champ.

Ok i checked out remotes unlimited and they only offer remotes for grand prix, grand am, montana and transport. I emailed the local dealer last night and they said they can order it from the montreal warehouse at a cost of 123.75 +tax (CAN). Also they can program it for 25 +tax. Is there any way i could check for sure if it has the keyless wiring? I dont want to find out it was removed or doesnt work after all that.

See page 8a-201-6-a of the service manual for a picture but basically the RKE module is behind the instrument panel and above the glove box (probably can see when removed.- has two 8-pin connectors, one blue and one black ). Program connector (used to program remotes) is a 2 pin connetor on the steering wheel side of the top of the glove gox opening with a black wire and a ppl/wht wire (8a-132-2 of the 90 FSM) - was wrong about the trunk.

To program or test for operation short a to b for 2 seconds on programming connector- doors will lock and unlock. Press the UNLOCK button on first transmitter - doors will lock ad unlock. If have a second transmitter, release the first and press UNLOCK on the other. Locks will cycle again. Remove jumper (page 8a-132-13).

I bought all of the pieces I need to add RKE to my Reatta on e-Bay including two Cadillac remotes (it has the anti-theft module and to use a cheap RKE would be complicated electrically. GM unit has all the right signals). So can verify that the 702s work at least for an 89 Buick RKE.

More than you ever wanted to know ?

Nope you can never know too much Thanks for all that info, guys! So the program connector is by the steering wheel? Or did you mean the left of the glove box opening? I just purchased an FSM off ebay and ill have it in a few days

i wish you luck in getting it to work.... pretty much the systems on the 90-91 bonnevilles failed after 70k miles or so... both my SSE'* the modules were dead. Even my dealer told me they were really weak and were updated in 92 with a better unit. RKE was standard on 90-91 SSE'* and optional on SE models.

RKE module is directly above the glovebox. Programming connector should be above the left corner of the glove box (may be accessable without removing the box through the opening by the latch, will be a two wire connector that is just hanging there).

Adding a RKE to a period GM car with the anti-theft module is a pain because just unlocking electrically and opening the door will trigger the alarm unless deactivated.

If you don't have the anti-theft module, the "Valliant" unit I mentioned earlier or the "Bulldog" unit at Pep Boys will work well - either is around $40. Installed one in 1998 on wife'* car and worked fine until the second remote stopped locking the door (first remote was lost early on). Bought a second because it came with two more remotes and replacing the module was easier than reprogramming it.

Am a little surprised to hear of the failures since would expect it is the same unit that was used in the Reatta (89-91) and those are almost bulletproof.

If your locks, lock when your ignition is turned on, you have a functioning alarm system. I too, have this alarm, but am fob-less also. It isn't functional enough to spend that kind of green on it. Better spent on a high-quality alarm.

And the alarm is under the passenger'* side 4x6 speaker cutout. Has about 10 wires going to it.. just take off that cover, and reach in. It is tie-wrapped to the dash on one of the screw holes.
