Has anyone heard of these so called Tornado fuel savers. They fit inside the intake hose and swirl the air around creating some kind of forced air induction. Does anyone know if these things really work or if it'* just a bunch of bull like everything else on the market. Thanks again

Waste of money, since it funnels the air away from the center where the air is really needed!

Turbulent air into the motor is absolutely better than laminar flow (air that has been straightened out) no matter how it is accomplished. The MAF gets air from the air box normally and it sees significant pressure and flow disturbances depending on how the air enters the front of the car so it really shouldn't care if is sees tubulent air.
The problem with laminar flow is air that enters the motor in this manner creates patterns of constant hot and cool spots in the cumbustion chamber and that can decrease efficiency. The tornado product and other air distubing devices have been proven to work on many applications as long as they are not the biggest restriction in the air path. The intake on these cars isnt the largest in the country, so I don't know if the slight added resistance in the air path would be a factor or not. No matter what, it will not be something you can feel in the seat of your pants, and if you get a slight mileage increase, you never know if its because you drove differntly. It makes a hell of a lot mores sense than an 80 mpg spark plug gimmick though!

All the high performance MAF units Ive seen have the screen removed and only the sensor or hotwire is left hangin there in the airstream. Why do you suppose that is? Does the screen cut down the flow too much or is the straightened out air from it really not the best deal for performance?

I'd be willing to bet you that all of those cars you're talking about have a CAI....custom or aftermarket. Nice, straight airflow. That'* why the screen can be removed. Trust me, I've been there. The bonneville, or more specifically, the 3800, is a totally different animal. The Tornado is a joke. Ask a professional engine builder or a speedshop......as long as you can take the ribbing you'll get from them!

You want performance? Stay away from the Tornado. It will either do nothing, or it will HURT performance. Either option is bad, and you're out the money. Don't bother putting magnets on your fuel lines, either. We have over 300 members here. Most of them have modified intakes, and NONE are running the Tornado.
