Today I successfully replaced my existing instrument cluster and swapped it for a cluster that I got at the wrecker yard.
As an update...my trip meter and odometer died about a month ago. To add to the mayhem, my coolant temp sensor gage no longer worked. So, I went and picked up a used instrument panel. Now this "new" cluster had 320 670km listed on the odometer, my car only has 185 450km, so, it will be hard to sell my car now....HA, who am I foolin, I'm not selling my car
At least the odo/trip works again. But...the coolant gage doesn't work...must be the sensor, the one they replaced a few months ago is broken...in fact it never worked...
Slowly but surely the project car is coming along..next week is the tail light and then get onto the rust repair....oh and the radiator...
LOL, the saga continues

Well, I give up...the trip clock won't go past 9...
:P
Figures
, but...but, the odometer works...for now, this is so weird. This car totally has a mind of its own. But...I give up, 14 years..whadda ya want :?:
The only benefit is (well a few) I managed to fix my driver side foot light, Project Red Light District is now 100% complete. The back light for the "SES" light is now red instead of blare in your face orange. And the odometer works.
Hmmm....I wonder what tomorrow will bring

I'm gonna rip that thing apart next week after my exam on Tuesday and figure out whats goin on in there.
It very frustrating but, I chalk it up to learning experiences now. It kinda felt like a waste of time tonight, when I noticed it wasn't working. Oh well, who knows the way things are going...tomorrow it will work and Tuesday it won't...
Very strange this Bonneville

Oh totally...whenever I say.."hey, the car is runnin top notch"
Then something goes wrong...it must be something wrong with the signal going from the PCM to the trip meter

Well...this is what happened tonight on the way home
The odo when I left work read 320 757, I got home pulled into my driveway and the odo read 320 782
A difference of 25 km...so, confirmed; the odometer works. My trip however...when I left home this morning it read 0000.9, when I got to the office it read 0009.9, when I got home tonight it read 0019.9. Something about the 9'*...
Whole new can of worms and the saga continues...
