Default important information needed!!

ok guys, i've got a secret project planned, and I need someone to tell me if the LE, SE, and SLE tail lights are

1) all the same size
2) if SSE'* are the same size also
3) who would like to donate their LE, SE, SLE tails [the plastic cover can't be damaged]

They are all the same size but the SE and SSE both have the amber colored turn signal and the bulb is on it'* own circuit. The LE bulbs share the responsibility of both turn and brake.

#3 is going to be really tough, bud. A taillight with the outer lens undamaged is a rather valuable piece in Bonnyland.

lol yeah. Well, basically, what i'm thinking, is to aquire a base or baser model tails, and take off the plastic cover, and epoxy them onto my SSE'* and then do that VHT nightshades thing.. that whay it'll hide any imperfections..

I think Merlin 91/97 has SE tails on his 91 SSE. They look good on there. It you wanted to change it up a bit by using the VHT, that'd be OK too.

Maybe carefully pinstriping the lesnes, spray, remove pinstriping...poooof...you have SSE tails. Still gonna be hard to find a good pair though.

I got a quote months ago for replacement outers for my car. I think it was around $150 for the pair. I'd have to check to be sure.

I think you misunderstood me, what I meant was take the plastic cover off of base[er] model b'ville, and put it on mine, not use the old ones.. I think maybe before I go for this quest I will remove the old plastic on mine [which is shot btw], and see how it looks w/o.. if I like the look, then i'll leave it, if I don't like the look, then I'll have the experience to know how hard it will be to take off ones that are undamaged. All I know is I need to get my bonne running good first.. because if you look at my other thread.. you'll see she'* grounded.

I'm pretty sure I understand you. But the "outer" part of the tail light consists of the clear lens and the black SSE insert. If you were to take just the clear lens off, you have just created the same problem that we all are trying to correct... the delamination of the clear lens from the rest of the assembly.

Because the clear lens and black insert are essentially one part, I would not think that an SE or LE clear lens will fit over the black insert [correctly]. If I was able to find SE tails in good shape, I wouldn't even think of dismantling them. I'd just throw 'em on as is. Then maybe consider the tint or other decorative thing.

that'* not a bad idea! . But the black mesh you talk of is not attatched to mine, at least not anymore. I think this project will be set aside until I can get pearl running a little better.. then I will be pursuing the little cosmetic flaws.

Incorrect.... they are SSE tails....
I had them replaced back in like 95-97 sometime.... when I replaced them I sealed the new ones myself, and they seem to be holding up well.

Who am I thinking of, then?

Or am I just going nuts?
