a) never needed to replace an IAC, they just needed a good cleaning.
b) more than you wanted to know at http://6007.us/iac.htm

I will give the IAC valve a good cleaning again but I think my problem may be else where. I cleaned the piece twice and both times there was no difference in the preformance of the engine. Also might try replacing the IAC, but what else coutd be causing these symptoms?

its a 1990 SE. Going to try a new IAC valve and possibly some new plug wires.

I don't know what is pictured, but on my engine its just to the right, and under the hose to the factory air box.. its got a small connector to it and two screws holding it in. you have to take off the hose to get to it.. if you can't move it, see how much a replacement is.. if its under $20, go for it.. if its more.. try some electrical stuff first..

Actually, it is a pic of my L67 in the 93. The idea was to show that although the areas you can get at can be cleaned, I found it more beneficial to remove the TB assembly and clean the whole thing.
