Default Heat

Is there a reason why my heat shuts off after a certain period of time (10-15 minutes)? All that blows after that is luke-warm air. Even when I gradually increase the temp

Lotsa reasons possible. Cheapest is prolly low on coolant! WHY its low on coolant is the real problem. Or maybe the thermostat or water pump or heater core. See what I mean?

It'* not low on coolant, i've kept up on that. As for those other reasons, I'll take a look into those. Thanks

First of all you have an SSE, so that means you have the auto climate control. My car tends to do the same thing. It gets super hot in the car, then cools off, and stays cool, until I crank it to max temp.

I figured it was the temp sensor for the auto climate control, but never looked for it. My guess is that it is the sensor.

Well, if you happen to figure it out, please let me know. I'm kind of tired of not having much heat on the 2 hr drive home from school every so often.

try driving in -40 weather, on a long *** drive home. It was not fun, had it up to max temp and it was not that MAX, lol. Car was at proper running temp, but I just couldn't get the heat turned up. that is one thing I don't like about auto climate control.

I figure that is the problem since it happens ALL the time in the winter, get awesome insane heat for about 10 mins, then slowly gets colder and colder, just teasing you with the heat, lol.

My SSE gives great awesome heat, but I am in Oklahoma also, so mines most likely the same also.... It blows the air thats warm enf to burn your feet after awhile or so it feels. My only issue is that if the temp is up past say 72 it only blows out on the defrost or the feet! WTF I mean lord give me some vent heat at least a little! when its down to say the 72 of course thats too cold when its 30 outside so i always turn it to max and sit it on feet or defrost, but isnt all that great if you need to open a window without panel vents working.

Is this normal, if so is there anything to do besides selling the car or not driving it thru the winter?

Thanks

Donnie H

I have to agree with sse1990, If the temperature gauge stays steady, the engine bay should be OK. If the gauge is jumping around in relation to the heat you feel, you may need to burp the cooling system.

One easy bit of maintenance is to use compressed air to blow the dust and dirt that collects on the interior temp sensor.

I've found this to help on the auto climate cars. The buildup keeps it from reading the proper temperatures.

Good tip. Where exactly is that little jewel located?
