Finally found a gad door cover at the junk yard today. First time there, very cheap $5.
Thanks for all your help.

Good to hear.

Mine locks with a nice little *plunk* immediately after locking or unlocking the doors If you look closely, you can even see the gas door jiggle a wee bit.

all the SSE'* are supposed to lock with the doors, if it doesnt, its broken. LE/SE (if equipted) will have a power release in the glovebox to unlock it.

I just filled up yesterday, and mine doesn't have a lock - and it doesn't look like it ever did. Were the '89'* supposed to have them or is my car just an oddball? I kinda wish I had one now because people are probably desperate enough to steal gas because of the prices.

Mine has one. The lock solenoid is in the trunk, on the top driver'* hand side. You can manually release it in there. My jam is broken [some idiot broke it]. I was going to fix it, but I am going to make it better. Smooth it out, then have a actuator that pops it open. That'll be cool when I get to it.

Glad you got it fixed though..

and yeah I wouldn't be surprised if somebody did try to steal your gas with the prices. We got lucky today $2.18/ga

Well I'll be damned, mine has a lock too. Doesn't work with the power locks, but even when I do it manually the little thing that is supposed to stick out and lock the door is either broken or not coming out nearly enough to do anything. It looks like the wires going to the lock were repaired at one point with electrical tape...that would probably explain why it isn't working with the power locks.
