Well, I can almost be sure I have an exhaust leak. The car sat for four years with no care whatsoever, so I'm sure something must have rusted through. I also have the single outlet dual tipped muffler.
I swear, it sounds just like mine. Hopefully by tomorrow I can have a vid up. :D |
Who knows the sizes and suches?
Any part numbers? Neither company has a bolt in so I guess we have to customize it hunh? |
I used the Magnaflow muffler designed for the camero's which gives me the single in and dual out ( one out on each side) unlike my OEM dual which had both outs on the same side. There is plenty of room for them too.
I am not sure what the part number was, I just went to the shop and asked them to order a magnaflow muffle for the late model camero's. |
Any F-Body ;).

http://members.shaw.ca/bonneville01/Bonneville1st.AVI - Faster Idle, 4mb http://members.shaw.ca/bonneville01/Bonneville3rd.AVI - Slower Idle, 3.5mb Had to do it quick, it was -15F out when I did that. It really sounds the same towards the end of the first video when I put it closer to the muffler. I'm sure if it weren't for having different recording devices they would sound identical. It just seems mine is a little bassier. I think it sounds pretty cool, considering everything is stock. Now...I'll stop interupting your thread. |
Still sounds different from mine fast idling, what you hear in my vid on page 1 is what you get.
Mind you, I have an unknown catalytic converter from a random car. It gives the car like-new emissions, that's all I can say  |
I'm really happy with my Flowmaster 80 series....Best 60 bux I ever spent....Nice rumble.......Sounds like she mean's buisness on the light...

These are great links guys. I just joined your site as i have recently aquired a 1987 white bonneville LE. 204,000 miles, no hub caps, typical rust at the rocker panels, but like we all know runs PERFECT. I live in minesota, and you all may be jealous of this, but because by the grace of jesse the body ventura being govorner for a short time, we have NO EMISSIONS TESTING! So my car has the old stock cat removed and replaced with a piece of straight pipe. Boy did that liven up the motor now that it can actually breathe. But besides that, i have the stock single in, dual out (to one side only) muffler and i was looking to upgrade it. I really like the sound of the magnaflows, and i was just wondering if it will bolt right in place of the stock or if a little fab'ing and fitting are required. Welding is no prob as i can do that myself. Thanks guys.

Anyone know the pipe size for the exhaust pipes?
Going into the Cat outta the cat and the same for the muffler. |
I chatted with a performance shop. He wants to use larger sized pipes. 3" from the factory 2.25". I'm kinda hesitant on this. He seemed to think because of the Cat that going to a bigger pipe wont affect backpressure enough. What'd you guys think?
I also want to put a supercharged engine in this in the near future. Does anyone know if the pipes are larger? |
