Default exhaust cause a stall

I have been fighting this intermittant stalling for some time at idle and slowing down.I was wondering can th exhaust , more specific muffler (plugged up) cause a stall. For a while my exhaust has been mderately louder than should be and as of today my muffler sound has got worse with a little shaking of the car and it will stall most times now since the muffler sound change.

When you say "muffler sound change", what exactly does that mean. How did it change?

Unless your CAT has become plugged, it'* rare that an exhaust leak or something similar will cause a stall. Even then, a plugged CAT tends to manifest at higgher revs/load than at idle.

Have you examined your exhaust to look for the reason behing the sound change?

Have you checked underhood, specifically the vacuum lines, EGR bypass, and exhaust manifolds (while running)?

Exhaust has not been checked, I will get it checked , I know muffler has a pin hole I am worried about the cat and I am not spending that much on this car.
I checked the whole engine over all valves and sensors (cleaning also) vacuum lines , almost everything concerning a stall my last thing is crank sensor which I was hoping not to have to.
Manifolds seem ok , I am not sure how to check these, dont see leak.
Exhaust went from a single low tone drone to a double tone drone with a slight shake to the car at idle.It is hard to keep car running more now when not giving it throttle.
The stalling has been a mystery for a while and I have been able to change many parts for pretty well free, ECM,coils and module, etc but to spend on a exhaust and still have this issue to work on I think I will give up on the car and buy another. So I was thinking cat could have been bad for a while and contribute to stall.

Well scrap the exhaust theory sorry to waste a thread.I went out to tinker with my car and found 2 of the new plug wires I put in came out of the front clip and were arcing against front exhaust manifold, what a jolt they give. They melted thru, so I replaced them and drove around a while with no stalling or idle issues.Back to my nice single deep drone and no shaking.Amazing what misfires will do, thought maybe I would have gotten a code.

Well, thanks for at least posting the resolution to your problem.

This one is a good example of how one must look back at the most recent work/change done and ensure that everything is fine with that work and that there were no wires, vacuum lines, or connections disturbed while you were in there. I think that most of us have been there in one way or another, at least once.

Glad you are up and running well again.
