When mine went dead I traced it to the green thin wire harness on the back of the DIC. One of the fine wires broke so I jumped it and has been working great since. Take a look at the one you pulled out and you will see what I mean.

hey guys is there a computer that controls the DIC or is everything contained to the dash display part?

Actually there is a DIC controller located above or somewhere very close to the ECU. The compass is standalone, minus the compass magnet which is located in the rear deck. All the sensors are connected to the DIC controller, then the controller just tells the display what to display.
