this is my sister'* 90(?) ish bonne. she parked it sunday night, went out monday morning to find this. any ideas what happened?

yeh it was white, and no, no volcanoes here in iowa. just cornfields. funny thing is, when you open the door, the lights still come on, and it still starts! engine is in perfect shape.

Looks like a short in the dash caused a fire that started in the gauges. I bet if you replace all the melted stuff, it'll be fine.

sorry to hear abou that... u could fix it, but i would not... gonna take forever to clean, and to get the plastic smell out... plus if u dont actually find where it went bad, it could happen again...

weird that it stopped itself and didnt take the whole car

wow talk about going back in time.... this is EXACTLY what happened to my 1990 SSE..... mine caught on fire due to the circuit shorting out on the antique aftermarket car phone system...... it melted just like that..... and smelled HORRIBLE
