Default Car wants to stall after turning on and shifting gears

*Sighs* Just one more problem to add to the list. I have a 1989 Bonneville LE. When I turn on the car, it runs at about 1k RPM'* idling. When I shift to either Reverse or Drive, the RPM'* drop, and the car stutters, sometimes stalling... othertimes just sounding like it'* about to stall. After about 2 seconds, if it doesn't stall then it returns back normal.

What would be causing this?

I'm gettin' the same thing now. And it takes me between 2 and 5 cranks to start the car. I cleaned the crapballs outta my TB, EGR and IAC. I changed the plugs, coil, ignition module, wires, temp sensor, air filter, and fuel pressure regulator. I'm thinking of changing out the IAC. Anyone else with suggestions?

I'm not 100% on this, but I think I have tried this. What is this doing? Is it simulating an open IAC? I'll check this out tonight. Any other ideas if it dosen't fix my problem?

Well for me when I'm shifting from park to reverse / drive, my foot is on the brake... so having my foot on the accelerator when shifting isn't the problem.

I'm seeing the same problem, when I do get it started. When I shift it, she wants to stall. If I let her recover the rpms usually steady and I have no further problems.

My 90 SE does the same thing, my friend was cracking up when my car did it because he said it let out a big puff of smoke, I was thinking leaky injectors or something. I correctly gapped my plugs(from .045 to .06) yesterday and it didn't do it this morning. TB and IAC was cleaned within the past 1k miles also.

Changed the trans fluid this weekend and the Bonney starts right up now. You may want to check the fluid level and condition.
