The Buick V6 has been highly critized for its irratic idle. It is a mildly camed engine which is why it has such great torque and lower HP per cube than its OHC import V6 competition. Its also why they pull hardest at lower RPM'* and begins to fade quickly after 4800. They built those engines to live, good low end torque is one way to do it. The lower ends of these dont last long at high RPM'*. Most likely why no aftermarket cams were ever made, that and demand. Most of the cars the 90 degree went in were sedans and that crowd is less likely to play and with the low end torque most people were very happy with the engine for daily driving. I read somewhere where somebody got 500 + HP out of the earlier FWD engine before it launched - however.

Nothing is lacking on the interior in either of my Limiteds. The 86 has a plain old dash with just basic gauges but the real important stuff like creature comforts is all there and the red pillow seats are awsome in appearence and comfort.

The Pontiacs are probably faster because there is less coefficient of drag on the grill emblems
