I have a 1988 Bonneville SSE. I am currently trying to locate the factory alarm unit. I have found a black box with two wires going into it in the trunk placed between the rear speaker boxes. Is this the alarm unit? If not then what is it, and where might I find the alarm unit?

I recall someone with a 1990 Bonneville stating that their alarm unir is under the dashboard. Is it in the same place on the '88?

Not sure on a 88 sse but sounds like you may be talkin about the compass if you have one.It is a box in that spot in the trunk.

Ah, thanks for that! I feel enlightened! At first I thought if it wasn't the alarm it could be something to do with the central locking. Now I know!

Now if only I could find that pesky alarm unit....

the alarm unit is behind the dash.... bitch to get at if i remember right.

Why didnt you say so. I had same problem , someone led me to under dash above gas pedal there is a fuse, in a cluster of wires maybe taped up ( mine wasnt taped).This fuse will disable the alarm system.Well it did mine.

Ive got a 1991 SE and my keyless entry is located behind the bonneville emblem above the glove box. you have to take out the box and look up to see mine, i hope this helps a little.

sorry i cant, i dont have my FSM for my bonne anymore, never got it back with the car.

it is up far in the dash, just above the steering column where it goes through the firewall. it is a black box. there is about 30ish wires going into it
