Default another instrument cluster question

Ok so here'* the deal I found an instrument cluster that has all the gauges plus a tach at a junkyard, but I want to verify if a cluster out of a 90 or 91 is the same as my 89? Will all the wiring be the same or do I need to grab the wiring as well. I'm tired of not having a tach or knowing what my oil pressure is. Also is the wiring the same in a LE and an SE. I know the SSE should be the same except it has different wiring for the compass and DIC. Am I right about all this stuff cause i'm really wanting this cluster. Also if it doesn't fit how difficult would it be to wire an aftermarket tach. What I guess i'm saying is where is the tach lead that I would tie into. It'* not as easy to do on a car without a tach lead on the coil.

If you have the cluster that only goes up to 80 mph, it won't work with one that has a tach or speedo up to 110 mph. Timsmooth tried it without any success :?

It has to be a straight swap, SE for SE, LE for LE etc. and the shifter style has to match. If you do find an LE cluster with a tach, then it MAY work, but make sure if you have the floor shifter, you grab a cluster that came off another car that had a floor shifter

Actually you do have a tach lead on the coil, since the ECM wants to know the engine speed just like you do. On my '93, it'* the fifth lead from the right on the coil pack connector, a white wire. Can't swear that yours is the same, but it'* there; someone should know which one it is. Once you know which one it is, you can piggyback your aftermarket tach connection onto the factory wire.

Yea ,so if you find an '88 or '89 w/ a tach send it to me right away!!!

-And for the tach question: Yes it IS the white wire. I remember when I wired my aftermarket tach, I checked out the wiring diagram in the Haynes manual to find the correct wire. Ill double check it if you want.
