bad tensioner?

bad tensioner?
my mother in laws 90 bonneville , her belt keeps slipping off and i guess its been doing it awhile. I assume its the belt tensioner and want to know if i should replace the pulley its self or the whole assembly thing? i dont want to replace it for nothing. Anyways are there any walk throughs our anything to explain how to do it all? i dont have a chiltons or etc and she wont buy one .

Keeps slipping off?
Is the tensioner pulley wearing enough to have Play in it or wiggle? Also check the Water Pump, If the pump is going bad and being pulled in any direction the belt can come off, basicly walk off the pulley... Check it out and get back to us
