Damn, if it were an SSE we'd be talking.. but an LE, eh idk. How much of a buyout price are we talking here?

My car is worth alot to me...I would be heartbroken if I had to scrap her. Especially since my Grandpa gave it to me. I don't think I could can do much with the stereo. I'll get some subs soon enough.

I was looking to pick up a second Bonneville for parts, but my parents probably won't let me. Theres a busy street here with chainlink fence around peoples backyards. Everytime I drive by I see an 88-91 SSE with flat tires, and a popped (but still latched) hood. I should drive by and see if they would sell me the car. How much should I offer saying it still runs strong?

If the car runs and drives.. anything less than $300 is kind of an insult. But, if it doesn't run [these are the ones you want]. offer lower. But hey, little tip.. if the engine doesn't start or runs like **** it'* probably a super easy fix. but if the car runs but doens't move, let it pass

Grab an SSE, don't bother with an LE/SE, unless you need powertrain parts. There are big differences between a base LE and a fully optioned SSE.

Well, yeah.. most of the time it'* something easy like a plug wire, or ignition related whatnot. These cars don't have a whole lot that can go wrong, but ignition-related stuff is extremely common [cam/crank sensor, magnavox ignition, plug wires {lack of replacement}]. Or a misfire.. i love it when someoen says "Oh well the engine is shot.. it makes weird noises" and all it really is, is a plug wire misplaced.

4 flat tires and a popped hood means if it'* decent and you offer $150 both parites could be happy.

Good news, found a complete 1989 SSE in a local yard the same color as my car. I will probably just buy that, buy my car back, and call it good enough... even though to color won't match quite right.

As soon as I get the car back I will get some pics up!

congrats man... We know we'll see a couple posts about how to. If you don't already own one, I'd suggest picking up the manual for this project.
