Default 87 stalling and reving?

okay, heres the deal, i bought the car about 4 months ago and when i got it, it had 5 drilled holes in the engine oil cap. Wierd. I thought so . i replaced the cap and all of sudden problesm started. First it would stall once a week maybe. then after about a month, it stalled like 4 times a day. Here are some symptoms.
1) She stalls when idling and turning or braking suddenly.
2) When i start her, and put her into r or drive, she quits.
3) Most currently, i thought i would start the car to hear for a gas leak, butinstead found a nother prob. the choke isn't coming on. the car was reving in my driveway. Dad says throttle sticks sometimes. i dont kno wat to do . could it be a vaccuum leak? fuel injectors? idle timing?
for any advice.

Check the PCV valve, I can't imagine why else someone would drill holes in the cap.

I agree with the PCV. It might be a good idea to just replace it for the $5 hit to your wallet. Be watchful for the 0-rings, and make sure they end up in the right place on the new ones.

If you still have a surging idle at that point, your most likely candidate is the Throttle Body. They get mucked up in the IAC (Idle Air Controller) passage. Instructions for cleaning it are in Techinfo. Link at the top of the page.
