Default 18 inch wheels?

Has anybody here put 18 inch wheels on their 87 to 91 Bonneville?

If so what tire size do you run?

I was down at a local tire/rim shop and the guy brought out a 245/45 - 18 and it looked like it might fit.

The overall diameter looked about the same as my 225/60 16'* but they were a little wider.

Just wondering if there was any problem rubbing.

Also please post some pics of your 18'* if you have 'em.

Thanx, CD

I think you aren't getting responses because no one has done it. Take the measurements and show us how it looks. Be the pioneer

a 245/45/18 is the biggest sze you can fit without problems, at least thats what is for the newer gen bonnies. If i had 18'* that is the size I would buy. If your still not sure, then try a 235/50/18 or something.

just make sure the overall diameter is close. I say go with 245s. 18s would look sweet on these cars, ive seen pics of these cars with 18s.

EDIT: welcome to the club! you drive a sweet car

Did a little research, looks like they should fit fine.

..........................Width........Sidewall height........Overall height.........Circumference

225/60 R 16......8.86" ...........5.31" .....................26.63" .....................83.66"

245/45 R 18 ......9.65" ..........4.34"..................... 26.68" ....................83.82"

difference......... +0.79" ........ -0.97"...................... +0.05".................. +0.16"

Actual Speed....Indicated Speed...........Speedometer Error

65 mph ............64.88 mph ....................... -0.12 mph

100 mph ...........99.81 mph ........................ -0.19 mph

If speedometer has been calibrated for 225/60 R 16 tires, replacing them with 245/45 R 18'* would result in the speedometer reading low by 0.19%.

Same as with the speedometer, if odometer has been calibrated for 225/60 R 16 tires, replacing them with 245/45 R 18'* would result in the odometer reading low by 0.19%.

Doug, I'm interested in your stock wheels if you get new ones. Also, I've got a white SSE bumper I'll trade for an LE, preferably silver, charcoal, or black in that order of preference.
