0-60?

What kind of 0-60 time should i expect from my bonneville? it seems like the power in my bonnie is slowly fading away. the other day, i drove my moms 93 taurus, which felt like it could leave my bonnie in the dust. the taurus only puts out about 144 hp, 20 less then the bonneville, although the bonneville is 700 pounds heavier then the taurus. is it just me, or does 700 pounds really make that much of a diff?
Someone around here mentioned 100lb = 10hp once before. not sure on the accuracy though but weight can make a pretty big difference. If you ever wanna try it get 700lb worth of friends in your car and try it

hrmm. my moms taurus ran an 11.9 0-60, and it leaves my bonneville in the dust. im almost afraid to see what my bonneville runs. it just seems like its lost its touch.

)Car and Driver got 17.3 @ 79mph in the 1/4 with our cars, no idea whether that was a GX3-equipped car or not, but I do reckon it was an SSE.
Mine is pretty slow.. really out of tune [mine]. But mine could leave my mom'* beetle in the dust

Although, I think my bonnie could put up against his 350hp escalade.. not sure though, that thing is pretty fast too. Either way, going fast with class is better, at least I don't have any of that fancy gps nav crapola, i use a map!

Before I got my tranny redone I think I was getting 12 to 13 seconds for a 0-60 time..... I haven't timed it since... but it seems a bit faster.
jr's3800.... since the tranny is hydralic instead of electronic, if someone was to be racing the 1/4mile, should they let it shift automatically, or run it thru the gears manually?
Also since we are talking about 0-60 and such.... I find when I give here WOT from a stand still, she'll climb just beyond the redline before she shifts, and this causes my battery/alternator light to flash... (I have a rather large alternator on her) For max speed, should I let her go into the red zone, or just ease off the gas for 1/2 a second so that she shifts just before the red line.... it'* so hard to tell by 'feel' what'* faster.
C&D did 17.3 in the 1/4mile with her... and w/ that Turbo kit, they did 15.9 with her.
Weather pending I plan to race on Saturday.... If I do under 17.5 I'll be happy. If I crack 16s I'll be jumping up and down

Ok... instead of running it manually thru the gears.... what about just 'pedal shifting' ... IE you know how you just ease off the gas for 1/2 a second just before redline so it shifts....
Do you think that would yield a faster time.... or allowing the tranny to go into the red zone and then shifting....
I guess I'm wondering where the greater power gain/loss is.... before, at or after the redline as far as shifting goes.

Never timed the '90 Bonneville but suspect it is in the low nines/high eights. It "feels" faster than the '88 Reatta (also the "C" engine and about the same weight despite two less doors and one less seat - think GM wanted to keep in same weight class to piggyback emissions).
In any event I made a mumber of 0-60 mph runs with a well-calibrated G-Tech Pro and it averaged 8.4 seconds. Do know the 88 has a diferent cam than 89-90 but consider all of them ded. 2.97:1 gear. Only change from stock were 225x60x16 tires (larger so speedo is off a little but the G-Tech is inertial), later ignition & Rapidfire 14s, "quality" (not Fram) air filter, and opened up rear exhaust outlet. 87 PON fuel.
