shortening the l27 intake runners
I was thinking about this question today and was wondering if this would work..

Well, after looking at the UIM you may be able to shorten the runner length by porting the intake ports in the UIM. If you ovalize the ports, so that they extend longer down the runner, you will make a shorter path from the plenum to the valve.
The intake port opening will be larger but as long as you are able to make everthing smooth agian, I doubt there will be any loss in flow. It may actually help ramp up velocity..
I'm not really sure what it looks like in the plenum but maybe that is an option?
