DHP or HPtuners
Just got me a laptop today, and now I'm lookin at gettin' some software to tune the rides. I know Pdad got powrtuner, but I'm wondering what the difference between the two is, if one is better or cheaper. And they both work with any '97-up car, right? I'd like it to work for the bonne and the t/a.

I havent seen a whole lot of the HPtuners, but the first thing I noticed is it looks WAY COOLER than the PT.And looks a little overcomplicated to change settings(injectors/gearing/ect)
Now I have a PT, and THEY ARE CHEAPER hands down, you also get acces to a forum, and access to reprog any 3800 motor, were-as the HPT has 2optional years.
The pt is more user friendly and aimed for more of what you as a 3800 tuner would look for.
Bottom line, price, what you get, and ease of use-THE PT hands down.
If HPT had the same price, and open source programming, I would prolly have gotten HPT, just because it looks cooler. But I like having access to the "closed" forum, because I dont look like a moron for asking a question, and most guys there have been there. Also HPT you have to purchase updates, PT=free lifetime updates
Remember the fact that HPT was based on V8 programming, so its aimed and labeled towards them. The PT was designed by a 3800 enthusiast(Charles Beyer/DHP), so its more aimed at you and what you would call a certain feature/setting.
-I dont think I went overboard-did I? Either way you, you will be able to whatever you need to do.

I just noticed that you wanted access to a 00 Bonne and a T/A. So the HPT might be the best way for you to go. If those are the ONLY cars you plan on reprogramming.

I just got my dhp pt today
I asked around for an hp tuners but they are not being sold right now that I know of.
Hp tuners (the company) was sold to Super Chips and Intense has no agrement with Super chips to sell the hp tuners. I did go to the hp site but cold feet when I couldnt find a supplier.

So HPT is the only one that might possibly do both? Is there another program option out there that can do both? If I'm gonna compromise, I'll just go with the PT cause people here have more experience. A buddy of mine wants to tune is '02 6.0 too. Is that possible? Thanks

I know PT is in the process of opening up to "other" engines, 3400s,3100s, dodge,.......
As far as constant upgrades, you never know what Charles has up his sleeve-lol.
So in time, chances are anything will be possible with the PT. Just not right now
Good Luck,
Jeremiah
