Default How long have your batteries lasted?

I was perplexed by this, so I decided to ask here, the battery that was with the car when I bought it died in November '08. It was a very sudden and very decisive death. I knew it was coming for a while, but when it went, it went hard. But, the battery that I pulled out, was branded 'Autozone' NOT 'Duralast'. I knew it was a battery that had seen a few years, but then I got curious, and tried to find out how many. Came across this, Autozone'* history:
http://www.autozoneinc.com/about_us/history/index.html
1995 - We opened our 1,000th store on Bardstown road in Louisville, KY. Also, we introduced our new Duralast and Duralast Gold batteries. Today, Duralast batteries are the best-selling automotive batteries in America.
Am I reading that correctly? They started Duralast in '95, which means the battery was 13 years old, at least? Please tell me I am tripping.

Also, feel free to brag about how long your batteries have lasted, only confirmed time periods if you please. I don't want to see 'I bought a battery last year and it still works'

They started the brand then, but not sure if it totally replaced the "Autozone" brand at that time. Maybe the Duralast was a premium offering then? Autozone also used several different manufacturers. It is now made by Johnson Controls, like the majority of brands. I have never seen a battery last 10 years, let alone 13. And thats through almost 40 years of owning cars.

Most batteries last 5 to 8 years tops, depending on the winters it sees. A label really tells you nothing, that'* just stuck on there by autozone, no telling who made it and when unless you can find numbers on it.
