Thanks, you are making me useful around my car!
Thanks for all the great information this site has in its data base.I have had almost no heat now for three years, well thanks to this site I was able to gain the courage to attempt a heater core replacement and Evap. core cleaning.Bare in mind that I am a 2 on a scale of 1-10 as far as mechanical skills around cars go.I also switched oil filter adapters with some great advice from a few members of this site.
I have been told by many people that it is time to get rid of this car but she is still going strong and I like this car a great deal.I have had a new to me engine put in after a shop I took it to did something to my original engine while they were supposed to be fixing the cam magnet that had fallen off.The new engine seems strong and has just over 115,000 miles or so on it.I will be rebuiling my tranny this spring because it has 213,000 miles on it and it is starting to slip out when I turn and when it is below zero temps.
Thanks again!!
Lovin having heat in my car, bring on more cold weather,LOL Tim

I forgot to mention that I pulled a ton of leaves and dirt out of the evap core area. The core itself was totally blocked by stuff that looked like lint from a clothes drier.I used a small long handled brush designed to clean tubing on juice vending machines to brush all the crap off the core and then I used a strong water gun my son had lying around to spray the core clean(I forgot to buy the brake cleaner )I also used my shop vac to suck all the loose junk out before I washed it down.It gave me well over a 75% improved air flow.I am amazed at how well this worked and how easy it really was to do.Tim
