I just got a letter from OnStar yesterday saying that they are assembling GM kits to upgrade OnStart to digital for the 2001 model and will be available soon for $15 plus one year additional subscription.

I just contacted OnStar. They confirmed that about the beginning of November there have been some additions to their upgrade program. Good news for many of our members. The following vehicles (I'm told) now have upgrades available:
2000 - 2002 Bonneville
2001 - 2003 Aurora
2000 - 2002 LeSabre
These are in addition to the vehicle years with upgrades already available.

my 04 grand prix has onstar and i have to have the upgrade. i talked to an onstar person and they said that the 04 and some 03 models have the proper technology to go from analog to digital but have to have the upgrade and renew for one year. I personally feel it is worth it, i never use the phone but i have used the safe and sound when i hit a deer earlier in the year and my car slid into a ditch and noone could see or find me but them, and also while i was living in the memphis area i had the directions and connections package and it paid for itself the first time i got lost in a not so nice area while i was learning my way around, plus when i went on vacation and everything else. You just have to look at it as is it practical for you. People have gone for years and years without this technology but after i wrecked my GTP, i wanted a grand prix with onstar because i wanted the safety. Also, after having my knee surgery, i had a flat tire and sure as heck couldnt get out there and change it myself so they sent someone out to change it with the roadside service, i feel it is def. worth the money but its everyones personal opinion to it.
