Newbie Question...how do you know?
I've been reading and reading. I understand we can change out couplers to same the cost of a new SC. That'* awesome and sounds reasonably easy. Also saw Bill'* teardown pics and write up, including his offer on the jig loan. Go Bill!!!
How does one know their SC needs to be rebuilt or the coupler needs to be replaced?
I'm assuming there would be noise and problems associated, however being my first SC it would be nice to know before it happens. That way I can't misdiagnose it.

Rattling noise only at idle. Take off the belt (motor off, bozo), and spin the supercharger pulley by hand back and forth. Do you feel slop or play? Worn coupler.
