battery keeps dying

battery keeps dying
well my 94 sse sat all winter without running and when i went to jump it the starter would spin but not engage and my jumper cables would almost start on fire now it has a new battery and was fine but now its dying again what is the problem with it im thinking the starter solenoid but im not sure has anybody else had this problem before and if so i would much love some help with tryin to fix it

Hello and welcome to the club.
You could put a voltmeter on the pos battery terminal and pull fuses until you see a volt change or go after the most common cause, the electric antenna in the trunk. Just unplug it over night and see if it solves the problem.

there has gotta be something draining it, make sure you have everything from your cigarette lighters unplugged, if it has an aftermarket alarm, or a stereo system these could be other sources of draw on the battery...if your jumper cables almost catch on fire while jumping, you may want to upgrade to some beefier jumper cables, less resistance = less heat, you will also have better conductivity.
