That could have been set, when you shorted the sensor harness....

so to give yall a update on the fans in my monte carlo i was able to get them to work. i started by changing the coolant temp sensor to a ac delco. the range one this one is 180-235 deg. then check the wires coming from the sensor, find 1384 ohms on the black ground wire so i starting to trase the wire. check with a gm wire diagram and found the ground is tied in with the a/c high pressure switch. so i removed the plug from the a/c switch and the ohms was gone. just something to check, this is a coming prombles on thies motors
