Default Need a guide to tilt the engine

Plan on replacing the spark plugs as well as wires on my regal. After some search on this forum, I realized I may need tilt the engine for a saft and easy repair.

I know I need to undo the two dog bones on the front. Are there anyting else I should remove. Do I need disconnect the air inlet tube to the TB. What is the best way to rock the engine once the dog bones are off? Will I cause any damage if I rotate the engine too far away?

Thanks.

no need to remove anything but the dogbones. you should only need to rock it forward 3-4 inches to get your arm down in there. use a tie-down strap to secure the engine forward.

Do you have a second bolt hole somewhere on the hardware of your dogbone mounts? My friends Impala with the L36 actually had another bolt hole you could slip a bolt through to hold the engine in the rotated position. With his all we had to do was pulled it forward a little by hand, because it basically just flopped forward....Im not sure if he had a bad mount somewhere or what.

The setup may be different between L36 and L67, and may even vary between models, I dont really know. My 3.5 only has one dogbone mount, and nothing to hold the engine in place.

But a tie-strap, or come along will work just fine. The Chiltons shows them using a small turnbuckle.

I would not trust a tie strap or bet having my arm crushed on it'* strength.

There is a second bolt hole. It is there to put the bolt back through to hold the engine. This was engineered for the purprose.
